BEETHOVEN’S FIFTH
Chamber Series Concert #2
BPO’s second Chamber Series concert spans elegance, intimacy, innovation, and symphonic power.
The concert opens with the brilliance and confidence of Mendelssohn Hensel’s Overture in C. The warmth and song-like beauty of Dvořák’s Romance follows, which features director Brendan Joyce as violin soloist. Sejourne’s vibrant Concerto for Vibraphone brings a contemporary voice and dazzling colour to the program, before Beethoven’s Fifth Symphony drives the afternoon to a dramatic and triumphant end.
